Creating multiple records from one form (1 Viewer)

Yeah it seems so easy in my head, but i dont have the coding ability to write it the way it should be...
if i did for the controls, i would think that it would run into problems when it hit the other combo boxes on the form, which would screw everything up. i dont really know where to go from here..

Thanks for all of your help thus far!! im hoping the light will come on here soon and ill go. oh yea, this is how i can do it.... till then ill wait

Yes, that would screw it up, you're right. And that loop is not really practical anyway. I am thinking that you will have to throw the combo values in an array as integers and loop through them checking the NULL condition. I will see what I can do with this, and let you know what I find out...

Thanks. appreciate the help!

Well Ray, I guess I can say that this really doesn't make much sense!! Why in the world would you want to go through the multiple-record entry process this way!? Are you aware that each of the combo boxes in that picture pertain to different values in a single record?? Can you tell me what sense you can make out of someone selecting a caseID, AND an expense type, AND a payment method, and then using that fact (the fact that someone selected values from 3 boxes) as criteria for saying, "OK, this tells me that 3 records need to be entered". I would sure like to hear an explanation of THAT!! Please...tell me I'm wrong about my assumption here! And if I have no ***** clue about your problem, tell me, so I don't confuse you any more. :)

We're both equally puzzled on that one and the logic behind it:confused:

So if you entered say five cases they would all be assigned to the same person with the same amount date/time etc?

yea thats correct. the 5 cases would have all the same information

Then I wouldn't have 5 separate combo boxes, just one with say the values 1 through to 5 in it and let them select the number they want from one list, it's much easier

true but there could be hundreds of choices that could be selected from the combos. it all depends on the different case numbers that we have to split the expenses between.

wish this wasnt so confusing

so whats the problem with this design then?

I have no idea Ray,

All I have is a picture to go off of. But, I'm sure if thought through this a little bit, I could come up with a better way of doing what you want to do here. It seems like the file has gone through some changes due to other non-IT knowledgable requests. That would certainly be a cause, I would think...

true true, well thanks for your help

BTW, do you live in the big apple, or the city that never sleeps?

If not, do you perhaps live in NYC?

I have heard that people in that area are really stuck-up and snooty. And, from talking to you, here's the result...
Code:
Function(Ray's Snootiness) As Boolean

  If Location(Ray) = Appalachia Then
Result = MsgBox "Ray is Stuck Up"
  End If

End Function
:D :D :D
