Creating reset-able numbers on invoice report

I am designing an access db for dispensing of medicines in a hospital that has a high turn-out of patients. Before now prescriptions are moduled up that patients are not served in the other they came. We want to change all that now.
Is there any way I can generate numbers that can be reset automatically every day on the invoice. The idea is that we use the number as a token to enable serve patients in order they came.

Your best bet is to get perforated tickets that the patients can pick when they arrive at the hospital. The tickets will be in a roll and it will be the most cost effective and even the most effective way to maintain order. Most hospitals I know use this system.

If you want to auto increment a number you need to use the DMax() function plus 1.
