Criteria Help!

I have a log form that I'm trying to develop a query for that will only show entries from the last 12 hours (or one shift). Got the 12 hour one sorted no problem, but the better case would be if I could grab all entries including ones with certain input into the subject field of the form. Let me explain:

Now when a new shift comes on they make a canned entry into log by choosing from a combobox, i.e. Crew 1 Day Shift, Crew 1 Night Shift, Crew 2 Day Shift, etc..... for 4 different crews. Is there a way to query by these entries appearing in the subject field and show all entries including and in between a crew's shift.

Example: Lets say Crew 1 comes in on Day Shift, makes their canned "Crew 1 Day Shift entry and other entries throughout the day during their shift. Crew 1 shift ends and Crew 2 comes in and makes their canned entry, "Crew 2 Night Shift". I need the option for crew 2 to see only the entries made between and including the 2 canned entries. The problem with the 12 hour query would be if there was a problem at shift change where the off going crew didn't signout until later (i.e. working an ongoing problem where they were leaving late). In this case the 12 hour query wouldn't pickup the whole shift in the log.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

are your combo values stored in a table?
if so, you might try adding a number column, then have your query use the number column as the basis for the "between" - otherwise how does Access know what order the shifts come in...
