Has anyone started using Internet Explorer 8 with data access pages from Access 2003? It gets to the data, because I have a login page first that is validating correctly, and when it shows the data access page, I see the 'data binding' message in Internet explorer (bottom left). However the page comes up blank (not showing the data in rows and columns). It works fine using IE7. I have already gone through all the settings in IE8 and it is placed in the Trusted Zone (also tried Intranet Zone) and double checked the zone settings but it's still showing blank. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like I'm having the same problem from Access 2000 database I created a few years (okay many years) back. Everything was working fine in IE7, but they upgraded to IE8 and it gets a blank page. There are two now, please someone help us!!!

I have the same issue and emailed the IE team at their blog and did get a response. I have posted a .ZIP file with my pages and they are going to look into it. They were actually very responsive. Right now I think the only solution is to use IE7 or IE6 until its resolved.

The blog is at http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/.

I will keep you posted.

Here is the solution (arrived at by trial an error). Microsoft never responded after the initial query.

It isn't the data connection or security settings. Its the footer on Data Access Pages ( DAPs ) designed in a tabular format. The Footer default "display" property of "block" causes the page not to render. The Footer "display" property must be set to:

"Table-Footer Group"
or
"List-Item"

The property can also be "hidden" and the page will render.

Zeusdos,
Found this site desperately seeking solutions to the same problem, tried everything on the security/zone/net settings just like p1 and Thomas, got nothing. Tried your fix with the footer property, works fine. How in the name of the Greek gods did you find this by trial and error? You live up to your name,
Thanks,

I'm Hoping this thread is still alive. Changing the Footer Properties doesn't seem to fix when there are multiple record navigation footers. I can only seem to get the page to display if the data page size is set to all, which isn't really a viable solution for larger set of data. Has anyone had success rendering a page in ie8 with multiple record nav. and a page size of 10?

Sorry running the page in Compatibility mode still renders a blank page.
I know that the page displays properly in IE6, I tested the page earlier today on a machine with IE6 and it worked. Im not sure about IE7. (we skipped IE7 completely in my company) but from the previous posts the issue seems to have started with IE8.

Compatibility mode makes it run like IE7, so I think IE7 might be the problem for you as well. My take is that you are EITHER going to need to revert to IE6 (which my work also still uses due to certain programs that they need to work), or you will have to start moving things to new ways of doing them because Data Access Pages are a dead commodity. They are no longer in Access after Access 2003 and so you will eventually have to move to something else anyway. Bad news, but it is what it is.

Thanks For the Reply. The page is really only used for 1 month a year and has work great the last few years. I dont have the time to redo using a better technology and was hoping for a quick fix. They may have to just live with the data displayed in one long list for this year unless I can figure out another work-around this weekend. The division of the company that uses this will be moving to SAP the beginning of next year and I'll probably integrate into the system.

Can any one tell me if DAP can be used for single user or multi users. If multi users then how to make it available for other users.
