Hi everyone,

I have a relationship between Market data table and Trade table which is One to Many. Market on the One and Trade on the Many.
However I just found out that I am unable to enter information into the Trade Form without entering information into the Market Form first.
I would like to enter info. into Trade Form/tables independent of whether I enter info. into the Market Form/table, but I still need to have the relationship of One Market data to Many Trade date.

Thanks

What came first, the chicken or the egg?
Here is the issue. You tell your database you have to have a parent (Market) record to tie a Child record (Trade) to. So it says OK, you can't do that. Now you want it to do that. So which is it? If you do enter a trade record without the asociated Market record, it would be left an orphan, which is one of the last things you want. How about this, on your trade form allow them to add a market record via a popup form so they can properly tie the trade record to a market record to keep data integrity.

Thanks. Never done that, how will that work and how will I go about doing it?

On your trade form, where they would have to select the market to tie the trade to, I usually put a button that when clicked will popup the Market Add form for entry (usually I set it to entry only in the form properties). When they add a market, I refresh the selection box for Market on the trade form so they can then pick the new market.
