I just started working with validation rules, and I know nothing about how to use them.

I have a table where one of the entries is Gender. The entry can only be "M" or "F." I do not want Access to allow any entry that is not one of those two letters.

I tried using Like "M" or "F" as the validation, but I was still able to enter any letter.

Anyone have any ideas?

It is working. Tunred out, for some reason Access was moving the validation rule. /shrug

I am trying somethign similar now, that I am having trouble with.

This table has "startdate" and "finaldate." I want to have a validation rule that finaldate >= startdate. It doesn't like when I include ">=[startdate]" in the validation rul for finaldate.

You can't do table level validation like that. Do it in your data entry form.
