Date Duplication

I have made this command to prevent duplicate dates, but sometime it does not work. Can someone help me why? Thanks

If DCount("*", "LEAVE", "[Date Taken Leave]=#" & Me![Date Taken Leave] & "#") Then etc etc

No Pattern... I don't know why
