Date fields

Hi I guess this is another basic question. How do I get a date field within one of my forms to default to the current date?
And when setting up a duration field should it be defined as a date/time field?

In the field properties set the format as Long Date and the Data field default value as Now()

In the table that holds the field "Date Field, make sure that you have Date/Time as the Data Type. Now enter in Default Date(), just above that you will see Format,make your own choice from the drop down list. Medium Date, is my preference.
