Date Formatting

I have a query which I export the results to an Excel spreadsheet the problem is when view within Access the format in the column is DD/MM/YY but when you look at the exported report it is 23 May 09 what is more strange most of the columns in the report are in DD/MM/YY format so why is this column in 23-May-09 format

What determines the format of dates when a report is exported?

Both Tables and Queries have a format property for each field.

I would expect the only thing to effect the format of dates in an EXCEL spreadsheet is the Cell format, If you export short dates to a new spreadsheet you should get short dates.
