I have been having problems with Access crashing when a table is selected. Access generates a backup file during this crash. This has been affecting multiple databases over the past few months but this particular small database crashes half the time.

Does anyone have any idea about why it is crashing and what I can do stop it? Repairing the database does not help.

I assume this isn't your full database as it has no forms/reports/code.

Have you tried decompiling the full database to remove corrupted code? Or importing all objects into a new blank database?
Just downloaded it & selected each table in turn. No problems occurred.

Having said that, there are many fields with 'special characters' e.g. #. This is definitely not a good idea though not the source of your current issue

I imported into a new database. I will see what happens. Does it mean anything to decompile a database that has no code?

If your database really has no code, then decompiling and compiling would have no effect. That's why I asked whether it was your full database.

Yes, it is. I have the same problem with much larger databases, so I was surprised when this small database crashed frequently.
