On my form I have a field that is updated automatically to today's date whenever a new record is created. There is another field that I would like to have updated with the current date whenever a change is made to any field(s) for that record on a later date. Otherwise the field should be blank, even if changes are made the same day the record is created. Neither of these fields is editable by the user. Any ideas?

Use the On Dirty event for modifications

if Me![New Record Date]<>Date Then

Me![Record changed Date]=Date

End if

There is no OnDirty event, I believe Rob is referring to the Dirty property of the form which is true when the data has changed such as:

if Me.Dirty Then...

Alternatively, the BeforeUpdate event of the form will also trigger when changes are made to the record and before the changes are committed to the table.

There is an On Dirty Event for the form. I've used it before.

Depends on what version of Access.

'Dirty' event only appears on A2000 or higher

Thanks, guys. That OnDirty Event (A2K) for the form will work.
