I have attached the test where I'm working on and I can not find the error I'm making. frmTestForm is linked with qryTest and when I open the form I get all the data. When I select an area with the combobox I get all the data in this area. So far it is doing what I'm expecting. frmTestForm1 is linked with qryTest1 and when I open the form I get the sum of the data per year of survey (2007), per year of execution (2008. 2009. 2010) and per area. So far still doing what I'm expecting, BUT using the combobox now to select an area the database is requesting for information that is (to my opinion) available. Can one of you give me directions on this problem? As soon as this is working I would like to present the data in a chart. This chart must also update when I select a specific area with the combobox. Is a requery enough or must I also add a command that is actually updating the chart?

What exactly is the problem? Having a hard time deciphering what you mean by the statement above...

There is too much data in the file to analyze it without an explanation here...

I try to explain my problem better. When I open frmTestForm1 the I get 39 records grouped per area, year execution & year survey and the sum of small, medium, large & jumbo PUD. Then I select one of the areas using the combobox with the aim to see only 3 records of that area, but then I get the parameter boxes to give information that to my opinion is available. What do I do wrong here. I hope that my problem is now clear for you.

Combo After Update Event needed help

Check out your db that I am attaching. I think you were trying to hard. Look in the After Update event of the combo box to see the change that I did. I commented out about 20 lines you had there and added 2 at the end.

Thank you very much Bob! I understand what you are doing and it works now perfect. I was totaly lost, but can now cary on. Thanks again!

Bob, another question. When I present the data in a chart and then use the combobox to select a specific area this chart is not updated. Do I have to add another statement to do this?

Was going through all the possible post on this forum and fond your answer to another user to requery the chart. Did that and still the data is not updated. I attached the test. Thanks in advance!

You would need to .Requery the chart.

I tried to solve this problem with recalc due to the calculated fields, but it was not the result I'm looking for. Both requery and recalc do not change the chart nor the figures in the datasheet that opens when I click on this chart. If you can help me pls let me know. Thanks in advance.

Bob can you advice how and where to update the chart. I've tried everything within my possibilities, but still the chart shows the original data set instead of the filtered dataset.

I've been trying to figure it out for you but the only way I THINK you might have to do it (haven't had time to actually try it out) is to change the rowsource for the chart. You may need to set the SQL statement behind the chart based on the selection of the drop down.
