I have to transfer an old dBAseIV system into access 2013. The command Docmd.Transferdatabase used to work with Access 2010. in access 2013 now it gives an error message sasying dBase IV is not ans installed database type.

Here is the old working code:
Code:
DoCmd.TransferDatabase transfertype:=acImport, _
        databasetype:="dBase IV", _
        databasename:=[Forms]![ImPortDbaseIVFm]![dbImPath], _
        ObjectType:=acTable, _
        Source:=[Forms]![ImPortDbaseIVFm]![dbImSource], _
        destination:=Dest, _
        structureonly:=False

Now this code does not work on access 2013. I looked at the MS office site the specs are the same. Help please.

It looks as though noone is converting dBaseIV files any more. The old software must be totally dead now.

Remember the old dBase very well (distant memory). I believe Ashton Tate was the company behind it and it cost an absolute fortune. I started with dBaseII but I think by the time dBaseIV arrived Microsoft Access 1 was out so I never fiddled with dBaseIV.

Sorry, can't answer your question, just an old fart reminiscing.

Although, as a suggestion (I'm sure there is a solution directly within Access) have you considered accessing your dBaseIV files via one of the many free (and not so free) SQL clients. From there backup or export to a file of your preferred choice, obviously something that you know Access will easily import.

Steve.

Yes of course I remember those days. What a revolution it was to have such a capability on a PC. dBase I never existed on the market the beginning point was dBaseII. Then came dBaseIII and dBAseIV. We have an application which was written in dBaseIV around at that time. The user can not let go the dBaseIV database. We convert it and he goes back and converts it back to be sure everything works. Now that we went to version 2013 of Access this problem suddenly came up. So that is why I have posted the problem hoping that there are other people like us.
