Hi smart people
I've opened a Access 2000 DB with Access 2010 and converted to accdb format.
I can create new forms and tables, but the delete and paste items on the shortcut menu is disabled. I thus cannot delete any tables or forms.

I do not want to create a blank DB and import everything as there are other funny issues, so I just would like to use the converted DB, but how do I enable the deleting of forms, queries, tables, etc.

Hi
I think this answer was not intended for this post.
I'm trying to delete a table/form. Not trying to add columns or nodes, etc. Got nothing to do with Adobe.

Hi Kowalski,

I hope you still have a copy of your 2000 db ;)

I don't have Access 2007 or 2010 in front of me right now but I think the menu you're talking about is not for deleting or copying/pasting forms, reports, macros, modules, or tables. It's for deleting records.

If you want to delete a table, right click the table and I think you will find the options to delete, copy or paste.

The shortcut way of deleting a table is by selecting the table and hitting the Delete key on your keyboard. Ctrl + C to copy, Ctrl + V to paste.

Hi
I am referring to deleting tables and forms (not records).
Right click does bring up the shortcut menu, but the delete option is disabled.
Hitting the delete key also does not do anything.

Are you talking about these buttons on the ribbon? See attached image.

Hi
Thanks but No. When you right click on a form or table in the Navigation Pane - on the pop up menu that appears there is a delete option. That delete is disabled.
Paste is also disabled preventing copying and pasting forms and tables.

Well, it is the Clipboard you use to Cut, Copy and Paste objects. Is it disabled there too?

Paste is also disabled preventing copying and pasting forms and tables.
Let's see a screenshot of what your Navigation Pane looks like when you right-click.

Does it allow you to create and save a table?

It looks like you don't have the rights to Create, modify or delete tables because the Access 2000 db is implementing Access security. Look in the Workgroup Manager.

Hi, I had this problem and I found the solution.
if you already has "user and group permission" follow these steps:
1 - Find the owner of "database object", for example owner1.
2 - Add it to access 2010 users.
3 - Login as the owner1.
now the delete is enabled.
4 - Add the other "database object" administer. for example admin1.
login as admin1.
now delete option is disabled.
5 - Login as the owner1.
6 - In "database object" permissions for admin1:
first clear the administer checkbox then apply.
again set the administer checkbox then apply.
7 - login with admin1 and now delete is enabled.
