I am designing a report in which I have a column that is for "Total Listings" and this "Total Listings" number is the "Sum" of some other entries in a form. The "total listings" shows up fine in the report for each entry, but when I try to total the "Total Listings" at the bottom of the column I get an error message, when I put in =Sum([Total Listings]). What am I doing wrong? Thank you.

c,

This is a little vague. You can't put a "Sum of a sum" in a footer.

You could put (in the footer) an unbound field that is the:

=Sum(Flda + fldb + fldc...)

Thanks Wayne & One more question

Thanks Wayne, your answer got me on the right track and I solved my problem. I've got another one though. In my report I am trying to arrange percentages in ascending order by using "View" and then "Sorting and Grouping" which works with other fields like last name, date, etc. But the percentage that I am trying to arrange is a calculation - a smaller number divided by a larger number, and it won't work when I try to put the resulting percentages in ascending order. Any suggestions? Thanks.

c,

Can you base your report on a query? If so, you can make a new column
for the percentage field and include/sort it on your report.

Geez - One more problem, but I'm almost there with your help

Yes, I have figured that out and done that, but since the percentage figures are the result of one number being divided into another, the numbers are many decimal places long like .8230840284023840, and then when I try to sort ascending, I get an "overflow" message, and it won't sort them. I have tried limiting it to just two decimals under "properties,", but I still keep getting the "overflow" message. Thanks for any more help you can offer.

c,

Haven't seen that error before. You might try using the Round function
in the query that feeds your report.
