i need different footers for odd and even pages. i now in word it is very simple, but how can i do this in access?

Here's a sample for a footer page control's control source:

=IIf([Page] Mod 2=0,"Page " & [Page] & " of " & [Pages],"MEPage " & [Page] & " of " & [Pages])

Let me know if you need additional help deciphering the above.

But basically what you're doing is to check to see if dividing the page number by 2 leaves a remainder. If so, then you will set one value, if not (hence it is an even number) will display something else.

i understand the if part of the statement. i do not understand teh MEPAGE.

what i am looking for is:
even page footer - "call us at 888-999-9999" and page number on the left.

odd page footer - "for best prices" and page number on the right.

how do i do that?

Sorry, the MEPage was just to have something different show up. So, it would have shown up as MEPage 1 or Page 2 (or vice versa, I can't remember).

Anyway,

To do what you want, you could get away with using only one textbox, but it will take extra coding to set the location. So, the easiest is just to put two textboxes, one in each location that they should show up on the page. And set the one on the left to:

=IIf([Page] Mod 2=0,"","call us at 888-999-9999" & " - Page " & [Page])

And the one on the right side to:
=IIf([Page] Mod 2>0,"","for best prices" & " Page " & [Page])
