Hi there,

I am using Outlook 2003

I have a number of email accounts and all these accounts forward their incoming to one master account on the server.

What I want to be able to do is disable the receive on the subsiduary accounts when I send/receive to reduce the send/receive time and just have send enabled from my PC.

I can't see how to achieve this in the settings - any ideas?

This is a very odd way of doing this imo - why not use either distribution lists or a group e-mail account then you'll never have to worry about forwarding ?

Hi Minky,

The origins are in history.

Originally with dial-up (56K etc), I had an email account, my wife had an email account, we had a family account, I had a hobby account.

Then we got broadband and had to set up another broadband account which had anti-spam and filters and the like so it seemed sensible to forward all the mail to the existing accounts through the new account to get rid of the c**p.

I want to be able to send from these accounts and they are all set up on the PC but there is no option in Outlook as far as I can see to have a default on an email account which does not attempt to check for new mail - the mail box will always be empty and sometimes there can be a delay if the traffic is heavy.

So, is it possible to have settings to stop checking the inbox, i.e. send only on these accounts or is there another way?

Ed

EDIT

OK - I see where you are coming from, Minkey, I have delved a bit deeper in the workings of Outlook and got it sorted now. Thanks for the pointer.
