good day to every one.

thought I have been googling about the topic but found none that will match.

I just want to know how to disable the textbox of the access shortcut file properties so that TARGET and the START IN will not be altered.

Does someone know how to do it!

Use Windows folder permissions.

I normally place this type of shortcut in the all users profile (desktop or start menu). I also set it up so that the standard user do not have administrative rights. This prevents them from changing the shortcut.

windows folder permission? I have no idea? is it a software? or where can I find it?

Please kindly direct me.

Part of Windows. Same as file permissions. Rightclick. Properties. Security tab.

Hi,

i use an installer which creates a shortcut and writes the properties to the registry. so, even if the user wanted to change the setings, they change right back because the registry makes it.

i'll see if i can sort out the string. should be easy enough to implement i guess merely by adding a .reg to be run when your database is opened.

If you are wanting to create a deployment package, then using an installer is great.

If you are at setting up the PC yourself, you really do not need to use an installer. There is nothing it can do that you can not do yourself. An installer program is great for automating the process.

I like this free installer:

Inno Setup
