I have a db set up that we use as a temporary patient registration system when our main system is down for whatever reason. On several forms there are command buttons that will print a sheet of labels for either the current patient or, in one case, will prompt for the account number of the patient you want to print.

Our printers are multi-drawer and the labels sit in the top drawer. The labels (really just a report) I set up want to print from the plain paper drawer. The easiest solution (though admittedly low tech) is to just pull all but the top drawer open so it will pull from the only available drawer and print on the correct paper.

My question: How would I go about putting up a little notification box after they click the print button, that would basically tell them to make sure all other drawers are pulled open. Then they could click ok when ready and the labels would print.

OR is there an easy way to make it print from a specific drawer? I did a search on the above method but not this one, maybe I'll look into that. The problem is this db will be used at 2 different registration desks and I'm not sure they have the same printer.

TIA

just use a messagebox in the first line of your print button code

eg

sub cmdPrint_click
MsgBox "Please ensure that you have pulled out all drawers except the top draw before continuing", vbExclamation,"Please open drawers - the ones on the printer, not you!"

rest of code...

Please open drawers - the ones on the printer, not you!"
:D I very well may use this word for word!! LOL
Thank you!
