I am setting up a spare parts database in my company. To increase the efficiency of the system and to allow non-technical people recognise some of the spare parts I am trying to set up a form which will display an image of the part with all of the other info on the part.
This is where my problems begin - I have set up an initial listing which has only 19 parts on it, along with 19 images of the parts. I have reduced the size of the images to try and reduce the overall size of the database (7Mb for 19 parts) but if I add in all of the spare parts (approx 2000) it will leave me with a huge databse.
The images I have saved are of the jpg variety but Access seems to only look for bitmaps, is this causing the increased in size because the 19 jpg images are it total less than 300K.
Is there a way of reducing this 7MB, I do not want to reduce the pixel size of my image any further because it will reduce the image quality. I will have a hyperlink to the full size bitmap on this form as well but I need to have a reasonably good quality image on display as well.
Any ideas ??
