Dlookup Question

i tryin to do a simple dlookup but when i runa query it says it cant find the field. what is wrong with it? the field name is rite and i even tried changin the name to see if that makes a difference but it dont. i did change the name of the field half way through. does this make a difference.

txtRightAnswer = DLookup([MyAnswer], "Word_Answer")

Do you have the My Answer part in quotation marks?

txtRightAnswer = DLookup("MyAnswer", "Word_Answer")

Also, I've had occurrences in tha past where if there is more than one row in the table and I forget to include the criteria part, nothing happens.

e.g.

txtRightAnswer = DLookup("FirstName", "PersonInfo") does nothing.

txtRightAnswer = DLookup("FirstName", "PersonInfo", "LastName = 'Jones'") works.

What the people are saying is correct. The field parameter (the first parameter) must be in quotations. I have also had issues where even if the field name is one word, it must still be in square brackets; therefore, "FirstName" would be incomplete - it would need to be "[FirstName]".

To all you critics, no, the field name was not a reserved word by Access, the field was a uniquely, original name.

thanks for your help. i got the field to work now but it now dnt recognise the table. wot am i doin wrong?
