Hi,

Am having lots of problems trying to install Acess 97 onto Windows XP (Service Release 2). Does anybody know if there are compatibility problems between these two?

Every time I install Office 97, and then try to run Access, I keep getting a message telling me that I have to install Access from the setup disk - which I have already done. I dont know what else to try.

Please help!

Thank you,

Adam.

Yes, Access 97 works with Windows XP.

Have you tried searching the Microsoft Knowledge Base site for your issue?

Knowledge Base

Ive had a look on the knowledge base, but couldnt find anything. Is there anybody else out there that can offer any advice?

Thanks,
Adam.

WinXP Service Pack 2, by default, disables ActiveX controls, or so I've read. Ac97 Wizards are nothing BUT a mass of VBA and ActiveX controls. So I'm guessing that something is not being allowed to run, and the Ac97 Kernel is misinterpreting it as something not being installed.

Try looking in the MS Knowledge Base for how to enable ActiveX on your box after installing Service Pack 2. That might be it.

Then again,... maybe not. I admit it's just a guess.

Thanks Docman

Thanks for your reply.

I had another look on the MS knowledge base, but was unable to find anything. Nevermind, I suppose I just have to live with it.

Thanks for trying.

kind regards,
Adam.
