Howdy all,

I typically use the R1C1 reference style in my Excel spreadsheets but my coworkers do not. For some reason when they open a new workbook the columns default to R1C1. I know how to change under Tools --> Options --> General but am unsure how to make A,B, C the default. I have tried making a .xlt file in the Startup folder but still no luck. Any thoughts?

From help

Note The default workbook template is usually located at C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\XLStart.

Have you changed that? I'm on 2002 but it must be similar for other versions.

OK, I'm starting to be somewhat freaked out. I have tried over and over to save a .xlt file in the XLSTART folder but for some reason it kept going to the Templates folder inside the START folder. Today I just tried it again and now it appears to work. Maybe I need to lay off the booze at work or something. Strange. Thanks for the post as it reconfirmed what I had been trying to do.

:D
