Hi Guys,

Can anyone advise me on a chart problem. I have a form into which I want to put a chart. The data I want to display on the chart is temperature and rainfall over several months. I have a table that has the month, temp and rainfall as fields.

I need the chart to display so that the months are on the x axis and the temp is on the left hand y axis and the rainfall on the right axis (I am not sure what this axis is called). Simply put, I need a line graph with months on the bottom, temp scale on the left and rainfall scale on the right with two different coloured lines, one for temp and one for rainfall to display the data.

Can this be done? If so how?

Many thanks

Basically the answer is yes. You can have 2 X Axis and a single Y axis

Charts in access can be a bit tricky. My advice is to always create a query that contains all of the information you want to chart. The data should be in the correct format and sequence. It sounds as if you are virtually there. Use the chart wizard and initially select a plain line chart. Complete the wizard and you will have a plain line chart.

Now the fun part.

Put the form into Design
Double click the chart to go to design of the chart
Right click on the resultant chart desin display
Select Chart Type
Select Custom Types Tab
Scroll down a bit and you will find Lines on 2 Axes

Now that wasn't so bad was it

All you have to do now is untangle your data so that it is in the correct axis.

Tip

If you want the chart on a report complete the form first and then copy the whole chart and paste it onto the report. You get the complete design of the chart that way

Good luck
