Dumb question...autonumber

I have an ID field on each record that is just an autonumber and doesn't mean anything to the user. Do I have to have it display on the form?

Simply put, no.

If you want to have it on the form, you could put it in a textbox and set said textbox's Visible property to No.

On your form, why not set the 'Visible' property of the control that is bound to your AutoNumber ID field to No
