Hey Folks,

I'm working on converting a client's databases from version 2000/2003 to Verson 2010.

I finally found the way to display the creation/modification dates.
HOWEVER; I can't Add/Edit the Table Properties Description of the Linked Tables. I want to type/paste in the new path to the BE resources for future reference. I can't click into the Description box, it's disabled for some reason. Yes, I'm logged in as the ADMIN and the Owner of the Tables is ADMIN. :(

How can I enable the Description Box so that I can edit it or Paste information in there?

Thanks for the help. This was so much easier in version 2003.

Cheers!

AAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

I gave up on searching for a setting change that would fix this issue and just IMPORTED all objects from the converted FE into a new blank 2010 database. NOW all object properties' descriptions are editable.

BUT not only that, the existing description data I had entered in the 2000/2003 version that should have been visible there after the conversion to 2010 has now MAGICALLY shown up in the description box, which is wonderful. Is this the refried-bean syndrome? (Cant get it right the first time but it works out better on the second try?)

I'm not particularly liking my first experience working with 2010

Cheers!

Hello,
I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing. Here's what I'm referring to:

IN the FRONT END, right click on a Table

From the drop down menu Select "Table Properties"

In the Description you can enter something like: Linked to \\server1\b2borders\vendors

I'm using this to keep track of what BE RESOURCE the table is intended to be linked to, without having to examine the Linked Table manager every time.

I'm not trying to change the Table definition, ie add/edit/remove fields or field attributes, which of course can't be done on a linked table.
....which I think is what you're referring to.

Thanks for the input.

I think the bigger question is why would you update? I keep all of my dbs in mdb. But to answer your question, maybe you should look up jstreet relinker.
