Hi, I have a form where i would like to bring up various records for editing. This part is not a problem. BUT. If a user accidentally changes something and doesn't know what it used to be then i need to have a "cancel" button which will undo the edit so to speak. I am not sure of the best place to do this ?

There's an Undo icon on the Edit menu.

An alternative would be to toggle the forms "Locked" property. Use the OnCurrent event to lock the current record. Use On Dblclick event to un lock it.

I use Format | conditional Formatting to change the backcolor of the control having focus to vbGreen. That way, the user always knows where focus is. For radio buttons and checkboxes I changes the control's label backcolor.

well i want something like a control that says "cancell" that would "undo" thier changes. What it would actually be doing is just not writing them in the first place, and the close button would write it. But i'm not sure where to put the event ? before update ?

Before update would do.
Realise however that you've got no control whatsoever on users accidentally making changes, not on Access, not on any applic ;)
It depends on the users themseleves to realise they made a mistake and they'll have to recall wath the original data was.
