editing data and transfering old data

Hi

the database i am trying to create is very similar to that of a shopping list the user would like the database to price up all goods in a list. however say for an example the user wanted to buy something different the following week i would need to edit the shopping list. but the user would like to know what was changed for future use

i thought the best idea is to edit the shopping list and some how the item that is edited will be transfered elsewhere so that it can be used for future references. can that be done some how

any suggestion will be helpful

sorry if i didnt make myself clear i was using the shopping list as an example.

if you have a shopping list as a database where as you choose good from a list and you want that list(whatever it is delivered to you) but then suddenly the user decided he want to save money by reducing items, getting rid of some items and choosing brand new items.

this can all be dont via one form, but what i need help on is making a record of all the changes so if items have been changed in terms of quantity there is a record of how many the user ordered first time
