Entitled

You guys are looking at that all wrong. The "all-woman crew" was called a crew because it was more elegant than "living crash test dummies." The "experiment" was the ability to launch and return safely even though the crew was not that skilled. By not calling the crew a bunch of crash-test dummies in public, the company stroked their egos so they would go along with it. As to the money that was spent... remember that it was spent here on Earth. We didn't send ANY MONEY into space except for the expended fuel. Everything else was either material purchases or payrolls that just started more dollars circulating here on Earth.

Personally, I was a little confused. I understand what Wendy's tweeted after the touchdown, but what was their particular reason or context for doing so? Was it supposed to just be understood as , well, a bunch of entitled celebs all together or was there some specific context prior to that that I'm not getting?

I do find it funny that any time a woman is criticized it is held out as "demeaning a woman". If a man is criticized it is just part of life, i.e., we don't go whining about our gender being the reason for it - someone just doesn't particularly like us, whic is part of life. (re: katy's statement: they used their platform to 'publicly demean a woman')

I can do that photo op for a lot less money. Family photo at Disney. Or were we?

what it had to do with being a woman is simply beyond logic

No, it isn't. It is a DEI move from a person with liberal leanings and a need to gain some "brownie points" for addressing those ideas. Plus his lady-friend was in the crew, so she now gets mad props socially. Let's be clear. I know for a FACT that there are many qualified female astronauts, some of whom have had extended stays in orbit. These women gained their astronaut's wings through a technicality. If you get high enough, you get your wings. They were selected for reasons including notoriety because you KNOW it was a publicity stunt.
