Hello. My name is Correen, and I need some help, if your willing to help me. I have a broad knowledge of computers and software, but this problem has truly stumped me, and seeing as how I'm the "go to" person at my office, there's no one else to turn to!

I have less than 200 fields in Microsoft Access 2000, but I'm sure that I've changed or added 255 or more (I read on the internet that it still counts changes/adds towards the 255, even if they were deleted).

When I try to add a new field, I get "too many fields defined" error, and when I click help it tells me error 3190.

I read on the internet that I should save a copy of the table/data as another table name, but that when my second problem comes in: I have more than 9500 records, 12000+ in fact, and it cannot copy that many at one time. Secondly, the date, set to type in as dd/mm/yy and then convert itself to dd/mm/yyyy, will not paste correctly even if I copy only one record at a time.

Please help!

Many thanks,

Mrs. Correen Anne Frappaolo

It sounds like you are using an Access table as an Excel spreadsheet, which is no good. That's about all I can make out of your post. Please give more information on your database and what you need to get more help.

This is from a reply sent to me from Boblarson - Crazy Access Programmer

Have you tried importing all of your objects (tables, queries, forms, etc.) into a new blank database?

To do so, create a new, blank database. Then, click File / Get External Data / Import and then select the Access database you are importing from. Then, on the dialog box that comes up, select each tab (Tables, Queries, etc.) and click the SELECT ALL button. Then, you can also click the OPTIONS button on the right-hand side of the dialog box and select the checkboxes of Import Releationships, Menus and Toolbars (if you created any custom ones), and Import Specifications (if you created any).

Then, it should import everything and that will reset the number of columns in your tables as if you had never done over 255.

(I'll let y'all know if this works -- currently my computer is trying to do so! Keep your fingers crossed with me!)
