error exporting

I am trying to export a table from access 2000 to excel 2000 and keep getting an error message
"external table is not in the expected format"
What should I do

First question: Is the table in Access 2000 internal or external to start with? I.e. is the table a linked table?

Second question: Does a newly-created workbook exhibit this problem or is it only on an existing workbook.

Without knowing a bit more of the circumstances, your question is hard to answer with any confidence.

it is not a linked table and I'm trying to create a new workbook
