Our company is in the process of upgrading to Windows 2000. I have several 97 version Access Databases that are struggling with the changes. This is the error message I am getting:

DDE Server Window:msaccess, exe - Application Error

THe instruction at "0x0401f9f3" referenced memory at "0x00081fed". THe memory could not be written.

What could be the problem?

Thanks,
Deborah

Deb:
Does this happen when you try to run a report?

Here is what good old Microsoft has to say:

When you attempt to preview a report, open a report in Design view, or gain access to the page setup properties of a report, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following error message:

DDE server window: msaccess.exe - application error
The instruction at "0x77fcb2b9" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be written.

CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the default or report-specific printer is set to a Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet 4000 PCL 6 printer.

RESOLUTION
To resolve the behavior, use one of the following methods:
If the default printer is set to the HP LaserJet 4000 PCL 6 printer, change the default printer:
Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Printers.
In the Printers window, right-click the appropriate printer, and then click Set As Default or Set as Default Printer.
If the report-specific printer is set to the HP LaserJet 4000 PCL 6 printer, change the report-specific printer:
Open the report on a computer that is not running Windows 2000.
Change the report-specific printer to another printer.
To work around this behavior, you can use an earlier version of the driver for the printer. For example, you can use one of the printer drivers that come with Windows 2000.

Not sure if this is your problem, but it's worth a look.
