Hi all,

I have a database in Access 97 that, when trying to compact or make into an MDE, gives the following error:

"Error: Record(s) can't be read; no read permission on 'C:\DOCUME~\johnson\MYDOCU~1\DB.mdb"

I decided to make a copy of this database and then emptied it of all tables / macros / modules / forms / queries but it still gave the error in an essentially empty database (was checking on possible table permissions).

Converting it to Access 2000 it works but i cannot then convert it back to Access 97 (needs to be in 97). Any idea what the cause is?

Many Thanks

what is preventing you from converting a db from Access 2000 to 97, this functionality is built into Access. There is always a method to convert to the previous version.

10 years ago I developed an Access 97 db using Access 2000

My apologies, i wasnt aware that you could as some 2000 commands dont work in 97.
