I have 5 columns of data. I hide all the other columns so that only those 5 are seen and try to export the spreadsheet to access. When i do this however, access always comes up with fields 6/7/8 in my table which, even after i have deleted them means that i can't set a primary key?

Any tips?

If you are using the TransferSpreadsheet method then you can define the range to Import into Access.

First i wouldnt double post your questions,

You can use the access import function and specify what column(s) or even range(s) you wish to import.

Not beeing able to set a Primary Key probably has something to do with Data integrity. But i wouldnt be able to help you further on that without a sample....

thanx, but how would i do that? i'm really useless at access - sorry!

docmd.TransferSpreadsheet is the correct command

Type that in a module or just "TransferSpreadsheet" in a macro and press F1, read all about it in the Access Help
