Howdy. Your COUNT portion is referring to the active workbook. If you want it to count on the other one, then add the reference ahead of the COUNT function:
Irish descent (along with German, English). Putting in the profile is an acknowledgement of my recent (last 8 years) discovery of my father's family heritage. He never knew his father or any of his family until he was in his late 50's (~30 years ago) when he met one of his uncles and one of his aunts. But he died before being able to go further. I traced the family back through Hamilton, Ontario (1867) and to Ireland prior to that. One interesting fact is that every family back to 1867 with a son, there was at least one house fire -in every family. My father was on only child, and I was one of his sons that fit that pattern. I was in a fire when I was 3 (I vaguely remember it, being saved by my father - living in the country before Fire Dept responded to these kinds of things), and we had a house fire when I was 50 - lost most everything, but all seven of us got out. Fire dept estimated another 1-2 minutes and we would have all died (5 AM is not a good time for this to happen).
Sorry for the interruption of scheduled Excel Q&A.
Okay, back to regularly scheduled work.

Wow, that's a bit scary.
House fire statistics show a Heavy corelation to smoking, any smokers in your family ?
When I was in the ROI a couple of weeks back a couple of volunteer firefighters (just like Zack) lost their lives. The news reported that they got 25 Euro's per call out, I'm not sure I'd like that. These guys risk their lives for peanuts !!! They are a LOT braver than I am.
No. Never tried. The one in 1998 was a short-circuit on the 220 line to the dryer. The one in 1952 was my older brother pulled a piece of burning wood out of the wood cook stove.
