Exlusive Mode Unfound (Anywhere)

Hi,

I am running windows 2010 and have Access 2013. I need to encrypt my database, but nowhere, and I mean nowhere, can I find the option to open access or the database in exclusive mode. The file is not shared, maybe that is why, I don't know. Anyway, I selected the encryption option from the access main page and it took my password, but never asks for it when I open the database. What am I missing here?

It's available on the Open dialog box, File tab -> Open option.

The drop down list, next to the Cancel button, which initially says Open has an option to Open Exclusive.
