Expiry Date - Do I calculate or have a field?

What is the best practice when it comes to expiry dates?

Do you have an ExpiryDate field or just an unbound calculated (from the IssueDate ) textbox on a form?

The ExpiryDate is used in a few queries, but I could change these to do the additional calculation actually in the query.

Generally, if you can calculate a value rather than store it, then calculate it. However, could there ever be a time when the expiration rules change? And if so, when would the new expiration rules go into effect and which records would they apply to? You can guard yourself against this by creating a table with fields like the following.

ExpireRule
StartDate
EndDate

Use the table in your queries as needed...
