hi there,

Hiow can i make my access database to open the database window on pressing F11?

Thanks
Danny

Is this one you created or someone else created? It should work if you created it (if you're using 2007 then it does things a little differently when you press F11), but if someone else created it then they probably locked it down to capture the F11 keystroke.

You can also check in the Tools > Startup to see if special keys are enabled.

Thanks alot for support,

but issue is users are using the ms access database with shortcuts on their machine. Some of the users are able to use F11 and some of them are not.

Thanks
Danny

nop... only security is the permissions at the mdb file thats it.

Thanks
Danny

Is it something that every machine have its own settings for access databse when they are using the shortcut on their local machines.

Thanks
Danny

Actually, now that you mention that, yes each user does have their own settings. So, if special keys are NOT enabled in the startup, on their machine, they won't get the F11 option.

And one more thing before i go to user and look for the settings, I read something about popup settings and modal settings ... can someone give brief idea whether this applies in my scenario or not.

Thanks alot for all your support!!!

a popup form will stay on top of everything regardless of what is selected.

a modal form will not let you click on anything but items on it until you close it.

thanks bob,

I tried to enable spl keys and allows shorthcut menu... but its not working on the user machine. I went to user machine to check the settings but i am not able to see the tools option from the user machine so i cud not get into settings. I tried to press shift and then open the database from user machine still not showing the tools options.
And i can see it from my machine. I have copied the shortcut on my machine and i can see the tool tab on my machine.
Please help.

Thanks
Danny

What does it do when you open a brand new database on their machine. Do you get it then?

sorry i did not check that on user machine. And now its not possible to go to their machine.
But one thing is sure that this is problem with that user only as other users are able to get in successfully like F11 and shift key everthing is working fine.

The problem us i cant even seethe tool tab so that i can make anychanges.
How do i get to that point where i can make tool tab visible on user's machine.

Thanks
Danny

sounds like the allow built-in toolbars option in the startup is unchecked. So, the big question is whether this is related to only that one database or all databases. If you can create a new database and it shows up, then we know it is database specific. If not and it happens for everything then we need to look at other options.

You might check out this post to see if any of it might help:

yes its happening for the new database also. Tool tab is not showing up.If it wud have been database specific then i wud have jst deleted the old database shortcut and put a new one for them. Where can i change the settings to get the tool tab visible again.

Thanks
Danny

If it was database specific, changing the shortcut wouldn't make a difference anyway as it would still be opening the same database with the same settings.

But, since it is not, then apparently they got their tool bars shut off. Do you have access to Menus? If you do, you should be able to go to Tools > Toolbars > and select the one(s) you want.

Below are the tabs i can see:
File,Edit,Insert,Records,Window,Help

So cant get into the settings sections.

Thanks for your valuable support!!!

Danny

ooh, I'm wondering if you might need to just uninstall and reinstall.

allright thats one option, but it was workng fine earlier what cud be the reason that broke it as it was working fine till day before yesterday.

Thanks
Danny

Some code could have run in another database that disabled it.

Bob,

I dont know whether i changed something by chance or it just corrected itself, but the new database have started showing allthe options. Now only the disputed one is not showing tools tab. Now this is showing allthe tabs which i jus menstion in previous mails.

Thanks
Danny
