Finding a dtae field in a table

I have the name of a table. I need to find the date field in it and get the format for it. any ideas on how to find the field name and the format?? I'LL also need to find the name of the key field

Suggest that you get into the help and find out about collections and properties and stuff. You can "enumerate" the properties/details about virtually any object in any collection.

At the right spot you will find in the help examples of code to "enumerate" the objects and their properties for a particular collection.

Its a bit painful at first, but if you persevere you'll pick it up. The example code is often good enough to clone and modify for your own use.

I'm sure you will find that there is a way to get at the information you want using VBA code.

The collection you will be interested in is the Tables Collection of your database. In Access the collections structure is hierachical, so within the tables collection you may also need to look at the fields (if that is the correct term?) collection of your table.

Once you've succeeded you can come back and tell the rest of us in detail how it's done!! ;-)
