I have a database that was originally started based on the concept that only one person would work a job assigned to them. Now the USER! told me that the job might be large and has be able to be forwarded to another employee to complete. But I have to retain the same job Number so that time reporting etc will be accurate. These are whar are involved in this process so far;
Tables,
Job Log In
Job Table Employee 2
Queries;
Job pick up query
job table employee 2 query
forms;
Start Job
Finish Job

My question is how can I use a combo box on "finish time_form" to assign the job to another employee so that when they open the 'start job_form' and enter their 'employee number' all the original data about the job will open and all the client information will be there so they can continue the job and then close it out on the 'finish time_form'???
And keep the data linked for reporting.
Anything anyone can do to help would be greatly APPRICIATED!!!!

I cannot attach the DB so if you would like to take a look please email me at mark.kelly@pb.com

thanks

Well, there are 2 issues, the first is you either need to reassign to the job to another employee (only 1 employee tied to a job at a time) or what I would suggest is create a Job_Employee cross referance table that joins an employee and job. That way you could have many employees tied to a job, and many jobs tied to an employee.

EmpTbl
EmpID

JobTbl
JobID

EmpJob_Xref
EJID (just an Autonumber ID in this table in case)
EmpID
JobID

Then of course you will have to change the other pieces to fit this new addition.
