Just sent a split accde front with accdb back to another country for test.
Included with 2010 runtime and SP2.
This tested prior to send on a spare machine with 2010 runtime and full 2003.
I have 2010 and 2003 Access but not 2007. Just found out that test user has 2007 on machine.
Can I send a modified version of my 2010 with VBA to force the use of the 2010 runtime?
The runtime has successfully installed on target machine and the accde front comes with the JStreet relinker and AddTrustedLocations.

Have read some of the articles about backward compatibility and it may be necessary to go to MDB/MDE - with all the modifications that entails.
But that will take a while - would prefer to force 2010 if possible.

(Have tried saving as MDB without success- so will have to find all the 2010 stuff and change / delete)

Thank you Pat

From reading some other pages from various places it seems that there are features in 2010 that will prevent the accdb/e from even opening on 2007 full version - whether runtime or not.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/cc907897.aspx
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Fo...0-to-access-2007-unrecognized-database-format
http://blogs.office.com/b/microsoft...lity-between-access-2010-and-access-2007.aspx

I have been sent a screengrab to show me that the message is "unrecognised format etc..." and that the 2010 Runtime is correctly installed on target machine.
Apparently it is possible to create a shortcut / link that makes the accde file point to the runtime version installed and not the full version.
But that is beyond my skill level (beginner) as I would have to do this for the target machine in another country.

Other pages have said that MDB/E should be the default format for backwards compatibility - but as yet cannot get one of those to open with 2010 runtime (obviously me at fault - but have to find problem).

Will be back when have something constructive to add (or it starts to work!)

EDIT: have done the rename to "R" thing but as I do not have 2007 (2003 & 2010) I have no way to test this.

Have found the page about ="http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/access-help/command-line-switches-for-access-HA010166605.aspx"]
And have the full path to the test accde on the target machine (in another country).
And know the default location for 2010 on a personal machine should be "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\MSACCESS.exe"
And that I must remember the quotes because there are spaces in the path.
And know that specifying "........Office12...." would start 2007 instead.

Buts:
Do not have the correct location for 2010runtime yet as the file path shows a network of some kind? Win7? (c:\users\username\documents\foldername\...........\databasename.accde).
Tried to put a new path into a new shortcut to a folder as a test - but will not let me save that new version of the shortcut because it does not apply to my machine. (obviously)
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\MSACCESS.exe" /runtime "C:\Users\username\Documents\foldername\subfolder\databasename.accde"

So:
Need to know how to create the shortcut with a new path that I can save and then send.
Need a way to find the correct location of the 2010 runtime that has just been installed (test user / viewer is not computer savvy)
