Form Data is lost

Hi ..
I have a lot of forms in my database. This database is already half way complete. I was not able to edit the data in the so I unlocked all the forms and allowed it to be edited, deleted and all those data related stuffs.
but I realised that making these changes makes all the data in the form lost.
All these forms are related but the data is only lost to those froms in which I make changes.
What should I do so that I dont lose the data and still I can work with the forms

I'm confused, if you edit the data then it will change it in the table and the original data will be lost. What data are you losing?

I have data in the forms. All from the table which was created because I am only changing the database I already got.
The forms were not allowed to change i.e I cannot change the data directly from the form. I need to do it from the table.
I want to change the data, i.e including adding any new data, from the form itself without using the table.
Now my problem is if I make these changes in the forms.i.e if i make them editable etc, I lose all my data i.e my form becomes empty.

I hope this make things clear.
