Hello,
I'm newish to access and am trying to edit a database, so far I have been able to figure out everything I have needed to do except for this.

I'm trying to add a new button into I guess it would be a sub-form and I cant figure out how to get to the sub-form. I have included the pictures in the zip file since im not sure of how else to describe it and the wording I should use. If you need any other info please let me know.

When you open the database you see the first Main switchboard(Picture 1) then if you click the Highlighted one it goes to the student information and directory(Picture 2). When you click on one of these buttons it opens a query in the access database this is where I want to add the button but when I go into design view i cant figure out how to get to the Student information sub-forum.

Thanks for any help!

Re: Forum Design View Access 2007

You pics reflect three switchboard forms. It's not clear what subform you are speaking about, or it's possible what you are talking about is not really a subform.

In any event, you should be able to see the subform among all of the forms listed and be able to open it in the design view from there. (I'm referring to the list of forms typically to the left in Access, not the Switchboard manager. It's hard to be more specific without knowing the version of Access you are using.)

Re: Forum Design View Access 2007

Its Access 2007, and like I said im not sure how to word it. But when you first open the database you get the switchboard form in the first picture, then if you click on the highlighted button it takes you to the second (directory, sub-form) not sure what its called which is picture 2.
Then if you click on any of the buttons in the second picture it opens up a query and this is where I want to add another button.

The third picture may not be necessary but it is the switchboard form in design view. I don't know how to make it go to the second (directory, sub-form) so I can add another button to pull up a different query.
On the left hand side under "all access objects" the only form I can see is the main switchboard form.

Re: Forum Design View Access 2007

I've never added controls to a switchboard form, and it's been a while since I've used them. I think, though, that the area on the left where the text boxes are located is like a frame on a web page. Whatever is there will be the same for all menus. If that's the case, you'll have to add your control below the existing text boxes.

Someone more knowledgeable than me regardiing switchboards may be able to add to this discussion.

I was able to figure it out I had to go to the switchboard manager instead of the form design view.
Thanks!

Glad you got it figured out. I now understand that you wanted to add a button for a new menu item. I was thinking you wanted to add a command button for something!

And Doubble - just some info for you which will help you when asking for help. A subform is a form which sits on a parent form by use of a thing called a subform control.

A form opened from the switchboard is just another form. Any form opened on its own, is just another form.

See here for more about subforms:
