how do i make it so a form opens up when the db is opened rather than to the editing section?

Hi,

Look at menu Extra, Startup

Is there what you're looking for?

There are a couple of ways to do this, one way is via the tools menu, startup and add the form name you want to open upon starting the database or you could use an autoexec macro to open the form of your choice.

Also you will need to untick the display database window checkbox under the tools, option menu so that you cannot see the db window upon opening your form.

Hay

where is this?

You can find it under the tools menu > startup

Untick the display database checkbox - see attached.

edits?

how do i not allow edits to forms,

ie right click and choose form design

as well how do i enable it once it is like that?

The user will not be able to gain access to your forms if you hide the database window, you can then disable the shift key to stop them from getting in this way as well...see example in the thread below:

http://www.access-programmers.co.uk...s=&threadid=32506&highlight=disable+shift+key

Going back to the screenshot I posted above, you can uncheck the boxes at the bottom to take off the full menus and just add in the items you want your users to have access to.

ok

i unticked the menus and the options are gone...

1) now how can i get it back

2) allow printing of reports from print preview? when they are ticked?

To get back into the db yourself hold down the shift key upon opening your database and you will be able to see the database window again.

Yes just a tad, just kidding of course:) I really don't mind you asking for help.........just not 3 pms a day ok, limit it to 1:p ;)

pms is that that woman Thing ?? And 3 times a day to !!! LOL

Hayley, your bypass key works great. My boss is the worst for going in the back and reformatting my tables. Got him! One question though. If some one else has this same trick, could they come behind me and enable the shift key?

You could put a password on the database to keep them out and stop them from changing the setting to enable / disable your dbs.
