hi.

in my db i have used in one scenario two separate forms to fill in one record in a respective table.

the user fills out the details in the first form for record 1, presses NEXT, and fills out the remaining details in the second form for record 1.

every time form 1 will be opened, it will need to be at the end of the records (to add a new one of course) so i have used this code in my form 1 open event DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acNewRec

this is fine. however, i have a dilema. when i place that code in form2 also, it skips one further place to the next record(record 2).. and if i dont put any code in form 2, it will always display the record that has just been added previously..

so basically what i need is something to tell form 2 to carry on adding details into the same record that form1 was just on..

how can this be done?

ok let me simplify the question.
i have created 2 forms that both contain half the fields for one record.
eg...form1 name,address,postcode....form2...telNo,d.o.b...
i have placed a macro ('next' button) on form 1 which saves the details, closes form1 and opens form2.
what i need is some kind of code that will make sure when form 2 opens, it is blank and it is ready to edit the same record that form1 has just been editing...

is this possible?

I am guessing that you are using 2 forms because there is not enough room on one form for all of your controls. Have you considered using a tabbed form?

yes that is the reason i am using two forms. i have not considered using a tabbed form.. because i do not know how to, i think that is what i need to do though, is it hard?

Hard is a relative word What may be hard for some is a piece of cake for others. I would suggest searching the forums here for tabbed forms, reading Access help files, and then just go for it. If you run into something that you cannot figure out with research post back here and someone will most certainly help you if they see you have made an honest attempt.
