form - subfrm linking not working

i have a form bound to a table, user fills in various fields, one of the fields has choices of math lessons, user selects a math lesson and at this point i need a subfrm to populate with references that go with this specific lesson....the references have already been aligned to the math lessons and are in a table in 5 different fields

.....i have tried linking the subfrm to the form using the common field "fld_lesson_id" ....but that is not working.....any ideas?

Can you post a sample db?

Have you established a relationship in the tables. If so, create a query and fiddle around there. Once this works you can create a form based on the query.

Wayne - the db is fairly big, and it would be next to impossible to strip it down....although if i cant get a solution, i may see what i can do about posting it

OSB - yes the tables have a join based on the field fld_lesson_id...
what is happening now is when i open the form, the subform populates with the related records for the first record that was stored in the table that the main form is bound to

...when i select another "fld_lesson_id"record the subform does not change, it remains the same

is this a refresh issue?

by george i think i got it....

using the following in an event procedure of the combo box that selects the "lesson" on the main form

Private Sub Combo_Lesson AfterUpdate()
Me.Requery
End Sub
