Hi there.

I am in the middle of creating my first major database and have come across some trouble with the form windows.

The main window is maximixed when the database is opened, but when I open another form from the main menu it opens ontop, maximised and on the same tab in the task bar.

Is there any way of making this form open in its own window and tab on the taskbar?

Cheers,

Chris

Hi, Chris,

The scope of a "maximize" selection is global, meaning that all forms and windows will open maximized, not just the one you meant to maximize. If you want one form to appear full-screen and others not, I would size them in design view as you want them to be, then set the Border Style property for the form to something other than "Sizeable" to lock that size into place so your users cannot change it.

If you want each open form to show up individually in the task bar, that's a database setting. Go to Tools / Options and click the View tab. Click the "Windows In Taskbar" box and they'll show up in the task bar. Of course, unchecking the box causes the opposite effect, which is what I usually select. I'd rather have my user navigate with the controls I put in the form or the custom menus than by those available from MS-Access or Windows.

Hope that helps!

Scott
