Form with more than one table

i am making a form that is linked to one table. when i try to add fields from other tables through the properties dialog, i get error messages.

"can't edit control. control is bound to (=[Counseling Session]![Session Date])"

it doesn't seem right that such a simple function would not work. can someone please help me?

Base the form on a query with the relevant tables.
