Formatting field on report

I have a field stored in my table as 000.\a format. So it looks like
008.1, or it can be 008. On my report the field comes out as 0081. I need the "008.1" format to come out. How do I do that.
the field is defined as text in the table.

Does it come out the way you want it to in the table? If so then you need to format the field in your report the same way. If it still doesn't work try formatting the fields in a number format.
