Dear all,

i am having a nightmare with sub reports printing.

I have a report with several header & footer sections and in the detail I have multiple sub reports. The problem is that sometimes my sub report will only print the first label in the subreport header and then the rest on the next page. I have tried sorting grouping with first line of detail but believe that Access just has a go and then resorts to owt!

What I really need is the subreport only start printing at the bottom of the page if it really does return the first line of detail?

i'm sure other have had this problem

Thanks
Mark

Access uses the height of all subreports in determining pagination, even when can grow, can shrink is utilized. You'll have to trick Access into thinking something else is happening.

IIkhoutx Thanks for telling me what my problem is but can you suggest how I trick Access??

My standard reply to a question about report/sub-report is, when you can avoid it, don't do it. I have found that it is much easier to write one big query that queries all of the tables you want on the report. You can manipulate the headers, footers and detail sections to make it look as if you have a report and sub-report set up. The headaches that come with the sub-report setup far outway the novelty of the idea. And that's experience speaking!

Good luck!
